I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH60823719) in Washington, and I have been working with children, adolescents and families in various roles for over 25 years. I have been a teacher, mentor and coach, as well as a youth ministry volunteer since 1989. Additionally, I have been blessed to be married to an amazing man since 1988, and have learned a lot about life, love and relationships through that adventure. We have 4 incredible children who have also helped me to grow as a mom and person, and helped shape and encourage my own journey of becoming a therapist.
My counseling style is caring, encouraging, and supportive. I believe it is integral that compassion is part of the therapeutic relationship. There are times when counseling is uncomfortable and painful, but I have learned that it will be worth it in the end if you are willing to do the work, and I am committed to walking with you through the journey toward healing.
I have worked with clients that have experienced a range of symptoms and concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, sexual abuse, self-harm, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, behavioral concerns, anger and aggression, parenting support, marriage conflicts, and family conflicts. Together we will explore your individual concerns and create realistic counseling goals. I use concepts that encourage you to find your strengths and that will ultimately assist you in finding the solutions you seek. I utilize an integrated approach to therapy, as I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” way of finding healing. I incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Existential Therapy into most sessions. Although I am not a certified Christian Counselor, I am able to integrate biblical counseling into our sessions when desired by the client.
